Neteller Will Activate U.S. withdrawals TODAY!

07/30/07

In a press release issued on July 18th, neteller announced that they will start distributing the previously frozen $94 Million of US members funds on July 30th, 2007. I’ve been holding off on this post just because of all the false alarms we’ve seen with Neteller in the past, but this time it looks like they’re really ready to pay us.

At the time of this post, 5am on July 30th, the withdrawal options still aren’t available, [...]

Mike Matusow Goes on a Blind Date (video)

07/28/07

(edit: the owner disabled video embedding for some reason. Watch it here.)

Mike Matusow was featured on an episode of My Life on the D List, Kathy Griffin’s reality TV show on Bravo. He was in a 4 minute segment, where Kathy Griffin would go on a blind date with someone to hopefully get some publicity and increase her fan-base.

During the date, he’s threatened [...]

Brian Townsend Loses $3,000,000

07/23/07

They say that as long as you continue playing poker, you’ll eventually hit a run worse then you ever thought possible. Brian Townsend is no exception. In his latest blog entry he confesses to having a $3,000,000 downswing

Brian Townsend plays in the $40,000 buy-in NL and PLO games on Full Tilt Poker and up to $100,000 NL and PLO live. A $3,000,000 downswing is of course huge, but not unthinkable at [...]

Tip 25: A lesson in Poker Money Management

07/20/07

The best way to learn something is by experiencing it first hand. But since you never want to experience what it’s like to go broke, i’ll just show you an example of the negative effects of not using money management in poker.

On June 24th, thenut21 placed 2nd in the PokerStars Sunday Million event for $158,000. Before the win he was primarily playing $200 and lower sit&go’s as a break even player (according to sharkscope). However, after his win he [...]

FTOPS #5 - Full Tilt Poker’s biggest series yet

07/11/07

WSOP numbers are down a bit this year, but online poker is still steadily growing. FTOPS (Full Tilt Online Poker Series) #5 has a $7,000,000 guaranteed prizepool, which is $3,000,000 more then last year.

This time they’re adding a $2,500 two day event into the mix. The deepstack format gives you a ton of room for play before the blinds start eating away at your stack, and it definitely rewards [...]

$10,000 buy-in tournament, Sunday on PokerStars

07/6/07

Sunday is going to be a great day for railbirding, because PokerStars (still not Mac compatible) is holding a $10,000 buy-in heads up shootout. You might be thinking that nobody would put up that much money for an online tournament with no satellites, but it’s already filled to the max with 16 players. I wouldn’t be surprised if they could have gotten 64 players to register.

It’s a single elimination heads up [...]

Durrrr Loses $60,000… In a Game of Chess!

07/5/07

The edge one player has over another in a chess game is usually obvious, so there isn’t much room for gambling. Two online poker pros, however, managed to set up a high stakes chess game no problem.

Durrrr lost more then $60,000 this weekend in a game of chess brought on by a bet. The bet was that he could beat a grand master in a chess [...]

Take Part in Bodogs 15 iPhone Giveaway

07/5/07

I’m not a big fan of casino games with a fixed edge, but I do like the new iphones. Bodog casino (Mac friendly) is giving away 15 iPhones to players of their real money Let’Em Ride casino game.

One iPhone will be awarded to the first player who is dealt a unique four of a kind, straight, or royal flush hand during the contest time period. Additionally, they’ll be awarding other prizes, [...]

Tip 24: Don’t play heads up cash games

07/4/07

I’m not opposed to playing heads up poker. It’s actually my best game. But if you’re playing heads up cash games, either online or in a casino, chances are the rake will eat you alive!

I came to this conclusion today, when I set down at a $200 heads up HA game (holdem / PLO mixed game) on full tilt. My opponent had $50 and I had $200. After 30 minutes of back and forth action, I busted him. My profit [...]
