Pokerstars Mac v1.0a19 Deployed

Received another update today. Another new version of the Mac client has been released. This newest version includes fixes to issues with the bet slider; makes a table move forward if action is required, and hopefully deals with the issues some people have been having with receiving automatic updates.

The final version is in clear view now, and we should see a completely stable and full featured Mac Pokerstars client soon.

Five Big Name Players Sign On for Great British Poker Tour Final in Bristol

The Great British Poker Tour Final will take place on the 5th of November and run till the 11th. It will take place at the Gala Casinos in Harbourside, Bristol. The event has signed five professional players to play at the event which will surely boost numbers.

Murder At A Home Poker Game

In New Smyrna Beach, Florida a 62 year-old man was shot and killed when he was playing at a home poker game. Police are still looking for two suspects who are to blame for the death of Dennis Michael Turner. O.J. Simpson’s alleged accomplices decided not to roll the dice on their own fate in court but to take a plea deal. PokerStars has been doing an ongoing investigation into allegations about the account of “The V0id”, who recently won the World Championship of Online Poker main event. This story has been going around various poker-discussion forums for two weeks. Stars have now confirmed that TheV0id has been disqualified and this bumps everyone who was involved up a spot.

Judge Rules on Bodog Case

There was a ruling yesterday on the Bodog.com domain case. A judge ruled that BodogLife.com could continue to have a presence on the internet but the judge didn’t dismiss the $49 million default judgment that was against them for alleged patent infringements, nor did the judge return the domain name, Bodog.com, to the original owners. Bodog’s lawyers will be appealing this judgment.

MGM Mirage Plans To Build In Atlantic City

MGM Mirage has announced that they will be building a $4.5 to $5 billion casino complex in Atlantic City. The complex will have the largest casino floor in the state, a poker room, a 3,000 room hotel facility, a 1,500 seat theatre, restaurants, spa, and a convention center. Tax Proposal for Poker Tournament Winnings Abandoned

The Internal Revenue Service had proposed a new rule that would take 25% of poker tournament winnings of over $5,000 from players. Thankfully, this rule has been withdrawn. The idea was withdrawn after an evaluation of the rule’s feasibility and discussions with the IRS rules making group. The American Gaming Association’s Tax and Finance Task Force fought against the proposal. The AGA is a leading group that is involved in land-based casino matters.

As the Poker Players Alliance members gear up for their October 22nd-24th meeting in Washington, DC, they are looking to add one more supporter.
