Cardplayer Magazine Changes Up Player of the Year Race

Card Player Magazine annoucned that it was making changes to its Player of the Year race to include more preliminary events at tournaments outside of the United States. This will serve to make the POY race more competitive, as with more events there are more chances to earn points, making every tournament more important in the year-long race to be the best player in the poker world.

Study Reveals U.S. Could Make Billions in Online Gambling Taxes

A study performed by Price Waterhouse Coopers has determined that if two online gambling bills currently in the U.S. Legislature were to pass, up to $17.6 billion in taxes over the next ten years could be generated for collection by the U.S. government. The two bills are Representative Barney Frank’s (D-MA) Internet Gambling Regulation and Enforcement Act of 2007 and Representative Jim McDermott’s (D-WA) Internet Gambling Regulation and Tax Enforcement Act. Netherlands Minister of Justice Postpones Vote on Exclusive Gaming License

The Dutch Senate had been scheduled to vote on whether to grant an exclusive online gaming license to the Holland Casino, which is owned by The Netherlands. However, the Minister of Justice, Hirsch Ballin, postponed the vote, saying that he did so because the Dutch Senate would not approve the license.
