Absolute poker just released a no download java version of their poker room. So if you’re on a computer, like a Mac, that you can’t download Absolute poker on, click the ‘instant play’ button on their site to load up the poker room in your web browser.
Unfortunately, at the moment, this is only good news for hold’em cash game players, because this is the only game the java software supports. There’s no tournaments, sit&go’s, omaha, stud, or blackjack availible. If you want to play everything absolute has to offer, you have to download the software, which isn’t possible on a Mac without 3rd party software.
On the bright side, their site does say they are “upgrading Absolute Poker Instant Play EVERYDAY… Tournaments, Omaha, Stud and all the features of our download software coming SOON!”. And everything that is supposed to be working seems to be working.
In the time it took to load up the poker room (42 seconds), I could have downloaded, installed, and opened up the Mac pokerstars beta version. Everything ran smoothly after the initial load time though.
This is the lobby. It’s clean and easy to navigate, but there’s not really to much to navigate yet besides Holdem cash game tables.
I’m not a fan of the over crowded table graphics, but some people must like it, because this is how absolute poker’s tables have always looked.
The ability to save hand history to your computer is a welcome addition to the Mac software.
