A poker game was being held in a house in San Antonio when three masked men stormed into the house through the back door, robbing the players of the $3000 in the game as well as their wallets. During the robbery, 49-year old Charles Lineberry was shot twice in the chest. According to police, the buy-in for the game was $300, guaranteeing the bandits a lot of money to make off with.
Charles Lineberry was taken to University Hospital, where he is in critical condition. Lineberry has become a successful poker player over the past several years, cashing in two World Series of Poker events and winning $170,000 over the past three years.
This incident continues a trend of violence and robbery that take advantage of small, private poker games where there is cash to be taken. Just last week, a Florida man shot and killed three at a poker game where he believed he was being cheated and ran off with the money.
