Full Tilt Online Poker Series Event #9 saw an enormous field of competitors when it registered 5,370 players paying the total of $300+$22 which brought the already guaranteed prize pool of $1.5 million all the way up to $1.611 million. You ask why so many players for just one tournament. Well the tournaments with the most amount of guaranteed money will attract the most players and with $1.5 million guaranteed right off the bat, that will attract a much larger crowd then say a $500,000 guaranteed prize pool, which it did with over 5,000 players. The winner of the Full Tilt Online Poker Series will receive a very handsome paycheck that will read $227,929, but don’t be discouraged if you didn’t win because the 2nd place finisher and 3rd place finisher both receive over a $100,000 pay day as well.
The final table was set after hours and hours of play, because well there was over 5,000 players playing to win. The chip leader going into the final table was online pro “bigdogpckt5s” and held that lead all the way to heads up play. The opponent though was “xtheory” who going into the final table was the short stack, but somehow found a way to heads up play by getting lucky on some hands. However when heads up play started, “bigdogpckt5s” held a 25/1 chip lead over “xtheory” and in the end walked away with the first place prize, but not without a scare from “xtheory” who did put up a big fight for another two levels of blinds.
