Ultimate Bet has announced a change to its Ultimate Bet Online Championship, as it is reducing the buy-in of one of the two championship events, the $5,000 + $200 $1 million guaranteed event, to a buy-in of $300 + $20, while reducing the guaranteed prize pool to $300,000 to reflect the smaller buy-in. The event is a six-handed no limit holdem tournament and will stay as such.
Many Ultimate Bet players had expressed concern about the buy-in noting that they would not be able to afford to buy-in to one of the two championship events. Annie Duke had this to say about the change: “We’ve listened to our players, modified our UBOC tournament schedule and repositioned one of our championship tournaments within reach of more online poker players.â€
The Ultimate Bet Online Championship features twelve events, starting with the $100 + $9 Pot Limit Omaha Rebuy event on January 9th and ending with the $1,000 + $50 $1,000,000 Guaranteed UBOC Championship Event on January 18th.
Running alongside the UBOC will be a mini-UBOC which features events with buy-ins that are 10% of the UBOC buy-ins. The two championship events are not paralleled in the mini-UBOC, leaving it with a total of ten tournaments.
