If you don’t already know about the challenge that famed online poker phenom Tom “Durrrr” Dwan has put out to the world then let me clue you in on what the online poker community has been raving about for the past couple of months. It all started when Tom “Durrrr” Dwan was finding it hard to get players to sit down with him at a four different tables and play them all against him at once so Tom “Durrrr” Dwan constructed a plan that would lure players into playing him and that’s when he came up with the Durrrr Challenge. The challenge that Tom has thought up includes giving any player in the world except for Phil “OMGClayAiken” Galfond the chance to play him heads-up of either Hold Em’ or PLO with minimum stakes starting at $200/$400. The players must play on four consecutive tables and play a minimum of 50,000 hands. Here is the part that got some of the top professionals very interested and it is when Tom “Durrrr” Dwan agreed to give any player 3/1 on their money if they put up $500,000 and all the player has to do is beat Tom for as little as $1 and if they can in the 50,000 hands then Tom will pay the player $1.5 million.
Now that you are caught up on what the Durrrr Challenge is all about then I can finally tell you that the challenge has finally begun just the other day after months of guessing when the challenge would actually begin. The first player that is going to play Tom “Durrrr” Dwan heads up is the popular high stakes cash game player Patrik Antonius. The match finally got under way the other night and the two high stakes cash game players played a total of 1,541 and in the end it found the challenger Tom “Durrr” Dwan ahead of Patrik Antonius by almost $135,000.Â
It is unknown when the next match will take place between these two heavyweights but if you want you can keep an eye out for these two on Full Tilt Poker and it was nice enough for Full Tilt Poker to create four “Durrrr Challenge” tables under the PLO tab so the railbirds can easily find the match and watch the monstrous action that goes on between these two players.
