In attempts to keep up with Apple’s rock bottom prices and new marketing innovations, Microsoft has announced that Windows 7 will be available for upgrade at an all time low of $29.99 to certain customers.
Microsoft has decided to hop on the horse of cost conscious software and finally offer a great deal. College students with a valid e-mail address will be able to download this new software for a low price of $29.99. The download will be available until January 3rd, 2010 to these students.
This offer will include both the easy to use Home edition and Professional edition. Microsoft is not only offering this to the United States, students from around the world such as Germany, Korea, France, U.K., Australia, and Canada will be able to take advantage of this exclusive offer.
The highlight of this program is the availability of Windows 7. Instead of purchasing the product online, users can simply download the full product on to their computers. Although, Microsoft highly recommends that users purchase a full back up disk for a clean install. The two versions will be both downloadable in the 32bit or 64bit platform.
Not a college student? No problem. Microsoft has also dropped the prices on the upgrade drastically, although the price is not nearly as low as the Snow Leopard, it is a step in the right directions for Microsoft. All the products (Home, Professional, and Ultimate) will be downloadable as well. The only requirement for the upgrade is the user must have Windows XP or Windows Vista already installed. The Windows 7 product is set to be released on October 22nd.
Snow Leopard has already launched in late August. The numbers have surpassed previous highs in the sales of Mac operating systems. Already having double the sales of the original Leopard OS X and quadrupling the sales of OS X Tiger, it is said that the Snow Leopard may be the best OS X Mac has ever issued.
